International Women’s Day

Discovering that today is International Women’s Day, we simply couldn’t let the moment pass without marking the occasion with a Beaumont Home Care blog. As you may know, we’ve only recently ventured into this blogging business, and while we’re still finding our feet, this felt like the perfect topic to get stuck into.

As a woman who founded Beaumont Home Care—a private, independent, family-run care company led entirely by women—I feel it’s only fitting to take a moment to reflect on the incredible women who make what we do possible. Alongside running a business, I’m also a mother, wife, daughter, newly appointed parish councillor, and a proud dog mum (because let’s be honest, that’s a role in itself!). Like so many women, I wear multiple hats daily, and yet, rather than feel weighed down, I feel empowered. Women are nothing if not adaptable, resourceful, and, dare I say it, unstoppable.

But this isn’t just about me. I have the privilege of working alongside three extraordinary women each day who are the bedrock of everything we do. Without them by my side, Beaumont Home Care simply wouldn’t be the same. And then, of course, there’s our incredible care team—filled with some of the kindest, most compassionate souls you’ll ever meet. Many of them juggle their own families while dedicating themselves to looking after others, and today, we take a bow to them.

And let’s not forget our wonderful female clients. (Yes, we care for men too, but today, it’s all about the women!) Many of them have lived through experiences we can scarcely imagine, from raising families to surviving the horrors of world wars. Yet, they remain full of wisdom, mischief, and that unmistakable wartime spirit that makes them truly inspiring.

Then there are the daughters of our clients, many of whom find themselves part of the so-called ‘sandwich generation’—a term I’ve recently come across. It refers to those who are caring for elderly parents while still raising children and, in many cases, managing a career. If that’s not a testament to the resilience of women, I don’t know what is.

Of course, today isn’t just about the women we know personally. It’s about every woman, past and present, whose strength, resilience, selflessness, and courage have changed our world or left us speechless. From the suffragettes who fought for our right to vote to the trailblazers in science, politics, and the arts—every single one has paved the way for the freedoms and opportunities we have today. Some have done so on the world stage, while others have shaped lives in quiet, unseen ways, leaving a legacy of kindness, strength, and determination.

We’ve all encountered strong, inspirational women in our lives. Some make their mark with boldness and confidence; others shape us in quieter, gentler ways that leave a lasting impression. Whatever form their strength takes, one thing is certain: women truly are remarkable.

So today, let’s raise a glass (or a well-earned cup of tea) to all the incredible women out there—because, quite frankly, we bloody rock!

Happy International Women’s Day!
